ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the research hotspots and theme in the field of infection prevention and control(infection control) management in operating room in recent six years in China, so as to provide reference for further research on infection control management in operating room. Methods The articles related to infection control management in operating room published in China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI), Wanfang and VIP databases from 2015 to 2021 were selected as the research objects, and Nvivo software query, coding and cluster analysis were adopted as the main methods to visually present the research hotspots and theme groups in the field of infection management in operating rooms. Results A total of 128 literatures with 30 high-frequency keywords were included. After free coding, 8 parent nodes, 28 child nodes, 60 secondary nodes and 1 736 coding reference points were formed. Six theme groups had been formed, which were the guidelines for infection control of COVID-19 infection, construction and management of clean operating rooms, management of relevant personnel in operating rooms, management of surgical supplies, operating room environment control, theoretical support and occupational exposure control. Conclusion The research content related to infection control management in operating rooms is becoming increasingly mature, and is constantly improving in line with the development of the times. The research direction and theory are also showing a trend of diversification. In response to the huge challenge of COVID-19 situation, it is supposed to preparing for surgery protection in general hospitals actively, ensure the safety of patients and medical staff, and prevent hospital infection events. ABSTRACT

In order to analyze the impact of COVID-19 prevention and control measures on the hotspots of residential burglary, the data of crimes that occurred during the First Level Response period of Major Public Health Emergencies in Beijing in 2020 and the same period in 2019 were collected, and the changes of hotspots during the two periods were compared by using kernel density estimation and predictive accuracy index. Consequently, the environmental features such as street network, point of interest (POI) diversity, crime locations, and repeat victimization in significantly varied hotspot areas were investigated. The results show that: 1) After the outbreak of the pandemic, the occurrence of residential burglary in the core urban areas of Beijing dropped significantly, and daily occurrence of crimes during the First Level Response period in 2020 decreased by 66.8% compared with the same days in 2019. 2) The eight major hotspots that existed in 2019 apparently declined during the corresponding days in 2020, five of them basically disappeared, and three hotspots weakened. 3) The declined hotspots were generally clustered around traffic hubs, areas with high diversity of POIs, clustered crimes, and repeat victimizations. 4) Home isolation and social restriction strategies implemented during the First Level Response period reduced the opportunities of offenders, and the real-name inspection adopted in public places increased the exposure risk of offenders, which are the main reasons for the hotspots decline during the pandemic. ABSTRACT

In this article, we present a [Formula Omitted]-learning-enabled safe navigation system—S-Nav—that recommends routes in a road network by minimizing traveling through categorically demarcated COVID-19 hotspots. S-Nav takes the source and destination as inputs from the commuters and recommends a safe path for traveling. The S-Nav system dodges hotspots and ensures minimal passage through them in unavoidable situations. This feature of S-Nav reduces the commuter's risk of getting exposed to these contaminated zones and contracting the virus. To achieve this, we formulate the reward function for the reinforcement learning model by imposing zone-based penalties and demonstrate that S-Nav achieves convergence under all conditions. To ensure real-time results, we propose an Internet of Things (IoT)-based architecture by incorporating the cloud and fog computing paradigms. While the cloud is responsible for training on large road networks, the geographically aware fog nodes take the results from the cloud and retrain them based on smaller road networks. Through extensive implementation and experiments, we observe that S-Nav recommends reliable paths in near real time. In contrast to state-of-the-art techniques, S-Nav limits passage through red/orange zones to almost 2% and close to 100% through green zones. However, we observe 18% additional travel distances compared to precarious shortest paths.

ABSTRACT

In order to comprehensively understand the research hotspots and development trends of Lonicera Japonica Flos in the past 20 years, and to provide intuitive data reference and objective opinions and suggestions for subsequent related research in this field, this study collected 8 871 Chinese literature and 311 English literature related to Lonicera Japonica Flos research in the core collection databases of Wanfang Data), CNKI and Web of Science (WOS) from 2002 to 2021, and conducted bibliometric and visual analysis using vosviewer. The results showed that the research on the active components of Lonicera Japonica Flos based on phenolic acid components, the research on the mechanism of novel coronavirus pneumonia based on data mining and molecular docking technology, and the pharmacological research on the anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties of Lonicera Japonica Flos are the three hot research directions in the may become the future research direction. In this paper, we analyze the research on Lonicera Japonica Flos from five aspects: active ingredients, research methods, formulation and preparation, pharmacological effects and clinical applications, aiming to reveal the research hotspots, frontiers and development trends in this field and provide predictions and references for future research.Copyright © Drug Evaluation Research 2022.

ABSTRACT

For equatorial African countries such as Rwanda the power grid in some regions is either absent or highly unreliable even though these locations are blessed with reliable solar radiation most of the time. Designing and implementing solar power systems capable of supporting micro-computer systems such as Raspberry Pi devices that can be used in educational environments is a way to overcome grid challenges while at the same time imparting valuable lessons covering Engineering, Technology, and Computing. Using Learning Engineering Sciences best practices effectively mitigates how COVID-19 that has required standard face-to-face project and learning strategies to transition to virtual or hybrid strategies that utilize Open Educational Resources (OER). These strategies include video conferencing, file sharing platforms, and messaging applications to generate learning activities, create courses to construct the learning program for training teachers in the use of OER and Raspberry Pi desktop devices. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To analyze the current situation and development trend of Xuebijing injection research based on relevant literature of clinical research on Xuebijing injection, and to provide a reference for subsequent studies. METHODS The literature related to the clinical study of Xuebijing injection was searched from CNKI, Wanfang V2.0, VIP Chinese Journal Service platform, and SinoMed (China Biomedical Literature Service System) for the period from the establishment of the database to March 2022. CiteSpace 5.8.R3 was used to analyze the research hotspots, perform cluster analysis, build knowledge graphs, organize the statistical and visual analysis of the diseases, syndrome types, and drug combinations involved in the literature, and explore the cross-sectional association among the studies by using bibliometric methods. RESULTS The final included literature was 2253 articles. In recent years, the amount of literature published in this field tends to be stable, and a relatively stable core team has been formed, but there is less cooperation among research teams, sepsis and pneumonia are the current research hotspots. The main clinical diseases treated by Xuebijing injection involve 19 categories, with a wide therapeutic scope, and the main syndrome type of treatment syndrome is blood stasis syndrome, which is mostly combined with related drugs and therapies in disease treatment. The efficacy is significantly improved after intervention for severe COVID-19, but the quality of relevant literature is generally low. CONCLUSION Xuebijing injection has high research interest, diversified and detailed research direction, and has extensive clinical application. It has an outstanding therapeutic effect in the treatment of critical illness type of disease, and the combination with related drugs and therapies is universal in the treatment of the disease. It has a significant curative effect in the treatment of severe COVID-19, and has a promising clinical application. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Italy was the first European country touched by COVID-19 and one of the most severely affected, with a death toll that overtook China's by mid-March 2020. As a result, lockdown measures aiming to mitigate - and eventually interrupt - the spread of COVID-19 proliferated during the first wave of the pandemic. The vast majority of these concerned the resident population, regardless of their status or country of origin, and mainly involved the closure of public offices and proscription of private activities with the aim of reducing mobility and social and physical contacts. Only a few concerned the foreign population and arriving irregular migrants. This article analyses migrant-related policy measures taken by the Italian government during the first wave of the pandemic that aimed to prevent infection and reduce the impact of COVID-19 among the population. These measures addressed two emergencies: the spread of COVID-19 that hit the resident population hard, regardless of origin or nationality, and the workforce shortages in some key economic sectors with a high number of irregular migrant workers. The former aimed at containing the spread of the virus (sections 4 and 5) and targeted foreigners already residing in Italy as well as irregular migrants arriving along the Mediterranean route; the latter aimed at addressing workforce shortages (section 6) as a result of borders that were closed to external seasonal migration. This article is a contribution to the debate on changes to migration and migrant policy, and how these impacted on migration and foreign populations during the pandemic.

The spread of COVID-19 has thrown the world into a panic. We are constantly learning more about the virus every day, from how it spreads to who is more susceptible to becoming infected by different variants. Those with underlying respiratory conditions and other immunocompromised individuals need to be extra cautious regarding the virus. Many researchers have created COVID-19 trackers to detect the spread of COVID-19 around the world and show hot spots where COVID-19 cases are more prevalent. Previous work lacks the consideration of comorbidity as a factor of death rate. This work aims to create an agent-based model to predict comorbidity death rate caused by a health condition in addition to COVID-19. The model is evaluated using the symmetric mean absolute percentage error metric and proved to be very efficient. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Background: Infertility is estimated to occur in 1 out of every 4-7 couples. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), a type of assisted reproduction introduced in 1992, has been used across the world for almost all indications of infertility, yielding high pregnancy rates. There is a growing concern worldwide about ICSI since semen quality has declined in recent years, accompanied with the potential risks of this technology. This study aims to analyze the current status and hotspots of ICSI via a bibliometric analysis. Methods: We retrieved publications on ICSI from the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2002 to 2021. CiteSpace was used to summarize knowledge mapping of subject categories, keywords, and co-citation relationships with the strongest citation bursts. VOSviewer was used to explore co-citation and co-occurrence relationships for countries, organizations, references, authors, and keywords. Results: A total of 8271 publications were analyzed between 2002 and 2021. The major findings are as follows: the USA, China, Italy, Japan, and Belgium are the top five prolific countries. The Free University of Brussels, University of Copenhagen, University of Valencia, Ghent University, and the University of California San Francisco are the top five contributing organizations. Fertility and Sterility and Human Reproduction are the most productive and cited journals. The hotspot topics are risks of ICSI, oocyte preservation, live birth rate, infertile men, and embryo quality in the past two decades. Conclusion: This study presents a research overview of ICSI from different perspectives. These findings will contribute to a better understanding of the current status of ICSI research and provide hotspots and trends for future studies.

ABSTRACT

Background: The pandemic of COVID-19 has had a profound influence on worldwide healthcare systems. Our study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis to explore the impact of COVID-19 on stroke and to highlight the major research trends in this field. Methods: We searched the original articles and review articles regarding COVID-19 and stroke from the Web of Science collection (WOSCC) database between January 1, 2020 and December 30, 2022. Subsequently, we performed bibliometric analyses and visualization using VOSviewer, Citespace, and Scimago Graphica. Results: A total of 608 original articles or review articles were included. JOURNAL OF STROKE and CEREBROVASCULAR DISEASES published the most studies on this subject (n = 76), while STROKE was the source of the most-cited references (n = 2,393). The United States is the most influential country in this field, with the highest number of publications (n = 223) and citations (n = 5,042). Shadi Yaghi from New York University is the most prolific author in the field, while Harvard Medical School is the most prolific institution. In addition, through keyword analysis and reference co-citation analysis, three major research topics were identified: (i) the impact of COVID-19 on stroke outcomes (including risk factors, clinical characteristics, mortality, stress, depression, comorbidities, etc.); (ii) the management and care of stroke patients during the COVID-19 pandemic (including thrombolysis, thrombectomy, telemedicine, anticoagulation, vaccination, etc.); and (iii) the potential relationship and pathological mechanism between COVID-19 and stroke (including renin-angiotensin system activation, SARS-CoV-2 virus-induced inflammation leading to endothelial impairment, coagulopathy, etc.). Conclusion: Our bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of research on COVID-19 and stroke and highlights key areas of focus in the field. Optimizing the treatment of COVID-19-infected stroke patients and elucidating the underlying pathogenic mechanisms of COVID-19 and stroke co-morbidity are key areas of future research that will be beneficial in improving the prognosis of stroke patients during the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic presented an opportunity for bordering, that is, for measures that aim to delineate foreigners' access to citizenship and membership and to further securitize migration policy. Across the globe, new border controls were introduced, stringent new international regulations applied, and hundreds of thousands of flights cancelled, all of which resulted in millions of travelers, including migrant workers and transnational commuters, being stranded. Among the areas affected by these bordering measures is the central Mediterranean migratory route to Italy. In Spring 2020, the Italian government introduced two measures aimed to block migrant arrivals by sea: the closure of ports to search-and-rescue (SAR) operations and the use of ships to quarantine migrants arriving on SAR ships. While the former was only partially implemented and then lifted in the summer of 2020, the latter has become a cornerstone of current securitization policies in Italy. This article — relying on semi-structured interviews with activists, non-governmental organization volunteers, human rights lawyers, and journalists — interrogates the use of quarantine ships during the pandemic as a means of stopping COVID-19's spread by irregular migrants arriving along the central Mediterranean. It shows how this measure, presented as a humanitarian mission to preserve public health, became an opportunity to securitize national and EU borders and how quarantine ships became spaces aimed at filtering and containing arriving migrants. The article aims to contribute to the debate around the bordering policy measures that characterize current EU migration governance and to consider their application during the pandemic. © The Author(s) 2023.

ABSTRACT

The worldwide health crisis is caused by the widespread of the Covid-19 virus. The virus is transmitted through droplet infection and it causes the common cold, coughing, sneezing, and also respiratory distress in the infected person and sometimes becomes fatal causing death. As the world battles against covid-19, the proposed approach can help to contain the clustering of covid hotspot areas for the treatment of over a million affected patients. Drones/ Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) offer a great deal of support in this pandemic. As suggested in this research, they can also be used to get to remote places more quickly and efficiently than with conventional means. In the hospital's control room, there would be a person in command of the ambulance drone. For hotspot area detection, the drone would be equipped with FLIR camera and for detection and recognition of face the video transmission is used by raspberry pi camera. The detection of face is done by Haar cascade Classifier and recognition of the face with LBPH algorithm. This is used for identify the each individual's medical history or can be verified by Aadhar Card. Face recognition between still and video photos was compared, and the average accuracy of still and video images was 99.8 percent and 99.57 percent, respectively. To find the hotspot area is to use the CNN Crowd counting algorithm. If the threshold value is less than equal to 0.5 than it is hotspot area , if it is greater than 0.5 and less than equal to 0.75 than it is semi-normal area , if it is greater than 0.75 and less than equal to 1 than it is normal area. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: The aim of this paper is to present a comprehensive analysis of risk management in East Asia from 1998 to 2021 by using bibliometric methods and tools to explore research trends, hotspots, and directions for future research. Design/methodology/approach: The data source for this paper is the Web of Science Core Collection, and 7,154 publications and related information have been derived. We use recognized bibliometric indicators to evaluate publications and visually analyze them through scientific mapping tools (VOS Viewer and CiteSpace). Findings: The analysis results show that China is the most productive and influential country/region. East Asia countries have strong cooperation with each other and also have cooperation with other countries. The study shows that risk management has been involved in various fields such as credit, supply chain, health emergency and disaster especially in the background of COVID-19. We also found that machine learning, especially deep learning, has been playing an increasingly important role in risk management due to its excellent performance. Originality/value: This paper focuses on studying risk management in East Asia, exploring its publication's fundamental information, citation and cooperation networks, hotspots, and research trends. It provides some reference value for scholars who are interested or further research in this field. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

ABSTRACT

The Chinese government adhered to the "dynamic clearance” epidemic prevention strategy from August 2021 to December 7, 2022, during the post-epidemic era (this study started in March 2022 and ended in September 2022). People are gradually resuming their daily routines, and demand for travel is rising again. Nonetheless, the epidemic occasionally breaks out on a smaller scale, causing social concern. As a social reaction, the essential issue is how to avoid COVID-19 hot-spots effectively by offering secure travel options for local residents who tend to travel privately. Two travel route planning models are proposed to avoid COVID-19 hot-spots based on the invalid road sections which are affected by epidemic. Specifically, the static model aims at generating the shortest travel distance after detours, with the constraint of avoiding COVID-19 hot-spots;the dynamic model takes real-time data into account, which includes epidemic risk levels, road grades, and real-time traffic information on road selection. Shenzhen, China, is illustrated as an example of the research area in this paper. To assess the effectiveness and efficiency of the suggested approaches, data regarding the road network, the prevalence of epidemics, and traffic congestion are collected. The experimental results demonstrate that 1) the proposed two route planning models can effectively bypass areas with high levels of epidemic risk. 2) The static route planning model increases the travel distance by 12.24% and 13.03%, while the dynamic route planning model increases the travel distance by 24.33% and 27.69% compared with the conventional shortest route, given the same origin and destination and the same impact radii of the COVID-19 hot-spots (300 and 500 m respectively). When taking detour routes to avoid COVID-19 hot-spots, the average increase in trip distance does not surpass 50%, which is acceptable psychologically for travelers. 3) The static travel route planning model is suitable for the severe epidemic situation for it can strictly avoid the epidemic hot-spots;The dynamic travel route planning model is applicable to the situation where the epidemic situation is relatively mild. Ultimately, the route planning models can be utilized to develop a framework to provide travelers with detour options, which would make a practical difference to ensure travelers' safety during traveling and contribute to preventing the spread of the epidemic. © 2023 The Author(s)

Bibliometric analysis was performed by presenting a visual map through VOS viewer software. The results showed that the number of published articles of Scutellariae Radix increased with fluctuation in 22 years. Cluster analysis of Chinese and English keywords showed that the current research on Scutellariae Radix was mainly based on chemical composition, pharmacological action and clinical application. The visualization map of keyword superposition time showed that the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus by Scutellariae Radix-Coptidis Rhizoma drug pair and the treatment of novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) by Scutellariae Radix were the research frontiers of Scutellariae Radix. Network pharmacology and molecular docking technology are new methods to explore the pharmacodynamic material basis. © 2023 Tianjin Press of Chinese Herbal Medicines. All Rights Reserved.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to help better understand the problem of energy poverty;to grasp the research context, evolution trends and research hotspots of energy poverty;and to find clues from research on energy poverty. In this paper, we use the scientific quantitative knowledge graph method and CiteSpace software to analyze 814 studies in the WOS (Web of Science) and CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) databases, such as a literature characteristic analysis, a core author and research institution network analysis, a research hotspot analysis, research trends and a frontier analysis. The results show that the specific connotations of energy poverty are different between developed countries and developing countries. In developed countries, energy poverty is mainly manifested in the affordability of energy consumption, while in developing countries, energy poverty is manifested in the availability of energy. The causes, impacts and solutions of energy poverty are the focus of CNKI and WOS literature, and their perspectives of the impacts and solutions are relatively consistent. However, in terms of the causes, scholars of WOS discuss the energy supply side and the demand side, while scholars of CNKI mainly analyze the energy demand side. The quantitative evaluation system of energy poverty has not been unified, which restricts the depth and breadth of energy poverty research. Topics such as the expanding scope of research objects;the interaction among energy poverty, the "two-carbon” target and other macro factors;the complex and severe energy poverty situation following the COVID-19 pandemic and the outbreak of the war in Ukraine;and the ways to solve the energy poverty problem in the context of China may become the focus of research in the future. This study provides an overview for researchers who are not familiar with the field of energy poverty, and provides reference and inspiration for future research of scholars in the field of energy poverty research. © 2023 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

This paper investigates the month-wise impact of COVID-19 conditions on residential load due to people's presence at home during office hours in Memphis city, Tennessee, USA. The energy consumption patterns of four consumers are analyzed based on the data available from pre-COVID to continuing COVID-19 situations. It is observed that the energy consumptions from April 2020 to June 2021 for all families have increased during office hours than that of pre-COVID months. Therefore, the impacts of the increased loads on distribution transformer are analyzed in terms of hottest spot, top-oil temperature, and loss of transformer life. Moreover, an experimental setup is made to produce the harmonics in currents of non-linear residential load which has detrimental effects on temperature rise of distribution transformer. In addition, this work proposes implementation of harmonic filter at the load side considering the impact of harmonics produced by loads to reduce the temperature rise due to the increased load consumption and presence of harmonics in currents produced by the load. The rise in temperatures and the loss of life of distribution transformer with and without the proposed solutions are simulated in MATLAB to show the efficacy of the proposed solution. Moreover, cost value analysis among different methods, which can be implemented to reduce the adverse impact on distribution transformer, are provided to rank the available methods. © 2023 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

Background: Using bibliometric method to analyze the research status and development trend of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), we aim to provide clinicians, scientists, and stakeholders with the most up-to-date and comprehensive overview of ECMO research. Materials and methods: Using Excel and VOSviewer, the literature on ECMO was systematically analyzed regarding publication trends, journal source, foundation, countries, institutions, core authors, research hotspots, and market distribution. Results: There were five important time nodes in the research process of ECMO, including the success of the first ECMO operation, the establishment of ELSO, and the outbreak of influenza A/H1N1 and COVID-19. The R&D centers of ECMO were the United States, Germany, Japan, and Italy, and the attention to ECMO was gradually increasing in China. The products most used in the literature were from Maquet, Medtronic, and LivaNova. Medicine enterprises attached great importance to the funding of ECMO research. In recent years, the literature has mainly focused on the following aspects: the treatment of ARDS, the prevention of coagulation system-related complications, the application in neonatal and pediatric patients, mechanical circulatory support for cardiogenic shock, and ECPR and ECMO during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The frequent epidemic occurrence of viral pneumonia and the technical advancement of ECMO in recent years have caused an increase in clinical applications. The hot spots of ECMO research are shown in the treatment of ARDS, mechanical circulatory support for cardiogenic shock, and the application during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT

Objective: In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, gun violence (GV) rates in the United States (US) rose by 30%. We estimate the relative risk of GV in the US in the second year compared to the first year of the pandemic, in time and space. Methods: Daily police reports of gun-related injuries and deaths in the 50 states and the District of Columbia from March 1, 2020, to February 28, 2022, were obtained from the GV Archive. Generalized linear mixed-effects models in the form of Poisson regression analyses were utilized to estimate state-specific rates of GV. Results: Nationally, GV rates during the second year of the pandemic (March 1, 2021, through February 28, 2022) remained the same as that of the first year (March 1, 2020, through February 28, 2021) (Intensity Ratio = 0.996; 95% CI 0.98, 1.01; p = 0.53). Nevertheless, hotspots of GV were identified. Nine (18%) states registered a significantly higher risk of GV during the second year of the pandemic compared to the same period in the first year. In 10 (20%) states, the risk of GV during the second year of the pandemic was significantly lower compared to the same period in the first year. Conclusion: GV risk in the US is heterogeneous. It continues to be a public health crisis, with 18% of the states demonstrating significantly higher GV rates during the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the same timeframe 1 year prior.
